Published on: 3rd Jan 2015The 24th Biennial Fujian Photography Exhibition, hosted by the Fujian Photographers Association took place from 28 December 2014 until (today) 3 January 2015.
A friend of mine, Qiu Taijian, posted a link to an article about this exhibition on the Weixin qq community. Qiu Taijian is a member of the Fujian Photographers Association. Maybe you will remember some of his photos from the [Click here to read] . He was instrumental in the excellent exhibition of their society at the Yixian Photo Festival in November 2014. Here is a photo of him that I took while we were on our way to the Fujian Photographers Association exhibition hall at the Yixian exhibition - he is the guy on the left...SAC Beautiful Country Exhibition. Take a look at his photos on the Southern Wall of that article.
Fujian is a province on the south east coast of mainland China. Fujian is bordered by Zhejiang to the north, Jiangxi to the west, and Guangdong to the south.
The Fujian Photographers Association was founded in 1962 and currently has 2995 members. The first Fujian Photography Exhibition was held in 1965 and this was already the 24th exhibition.
The exhibition venue was the Fujian Folk Art Museum in Fuzhou city. What fascinated me about this exhibition is how important the human element is in the winning photos.Even the landscape sunset photo has a human silhouette figure as the main focal point. Can you imagine the rich cultural and historical document a photo book of all the winners of the past 24 exhibitions would be!
By the way, I see that they did publish a catalogue of this exhibition. It is available for ??180 or ??140 to the members of their society.
